Lucknow Central is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language drama film, directed by Makrand Deshpande.The film stars Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty and Deepak Dobriyal in lead roles. It was released on 17 March 2017. The movie Lucknow Central is all about the prisoners who are living at the Lucknow central prison during their sentence who are unaware that their lives are about to change drastically once they hear three words- "escape"! The film also stars actress Huma Qureshi, Sanjay Mishra and Rajesh Tailang in supporting roles.It was produced by Vinod Chopra Productions with Sony Pictures Entertainment India releasing the film worldwide by way of distributing it locally. Lucknow Central revolves around the lives of 3 such prisoners,Prateek, Shukla and Manish who are unaware that their lives are about to change drastically once they hear the three words "Escape". They were convicted for committing heinous crimes and they have been sentenced to prison. But they have no idea what is really going on around them as a large number of people including a lawyer had a hand in creating the "escape" plan. Once they are out of the prison, the 3 convicts would then have to face the real world.
The film premiered at the Mumbai Film Festival in 2017.
The film has received generally negative reviews from critics. It has a score of 40% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 5 reviews.
